I have loved stories and books ever since I can remember. The book fairs at school and paging through books at the library have always been my "happy place". I am a kid at heart so naturally, I love to write and read/perform for children.
Why do I write children’s stories? I remember how special stories made me feel as a child especially at holidays. I wanted to make holidays special for my kids and was moved to start writing by a documentary I saw about how J.R.R. Tolkien wrote Christmas stories for his kids. So, in 2005 I wrote a Christmas story for my kids and gave it to them as a gift. They were thrilled and asked me to read it to their class! Since then I have finished ten stories of various lengths. I have read these stories many times for classes from Kindergarten through Fifth grade and have been asked back...which is good!
My influences are J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Dr. Suess, Shel Silverstein and many others. I like these authors because their vision can be seen even when there are no pictures. Kids like to make up their own characters in their minds eye!
